Adornment Care
With the nature of...well nature, special care is required to get the longest life out of it.
Bone:
- Bone is porous; do not go swimming in chlorine pools, the ocean, lakes with adornments made from bone unless you want to create an unpredictable patina.
- Keep away from animals! If your cat or dog gets a hold of your jewelry, not only can it become damaged, but the bone can pose a choking hazard. We recommend keeping jewelry stashed safely when not in use.
- When bone is no longer inside an organism, it becomes brittle. Avoid rough handling or impacts to prolong the life of your adornments.
Metal:
- Metal will tarnish with time, this is the beauty of this material!
- For Sterling silver, use a jeweler`s cloth to polish occasionally if patina is undesired.
- For brass, use Brasso or another method to polish up any tarnish if you so desire. Rubbing a lemon on brass also works! We however, love the evolution of brass over time, as it changes dependent of its environment, wonderfully capturing a story of time passed.
Leather:
- Leather morphs and flexes to fit the wearer. With more use, the material becomes more soft and supple, shifting to fit you custom!
- If you`d like, to maintain your leather, you may apply mink oil to hydrate the skin. This can not only add a nice polish, but also protect from elements and improve flexibility!
With all natural materials, and even synthetic, things show the passage of time. Our personal preference is to let the natural order shine, but regardless, with proper care or not, our pieces can last for years, even a lifetime! We aim to create works that come from the earth, and will return back to it, cutting out the norm of fashion where discarded pieces will sit for centuries before degrading!
